Doch mit der Majella eröffnen sich ein grandioses Skitourengebiet in den Abruzzen mitten im Apennin. Die Abruzzen gehören noch zu den weniger besuchten Skitourenzielen.
Hier finden wir gleichmäßige Skihänge, die in den Alpen ihresgleichen suchen. So bietet der Monte Rapina einen traumhaften Blick weit ins italienische Land hinein bis zu den gegenüber der Adria liegenden Küstenbergen Albaniens. Im noch wilden Majella Nationalpark kann man sogar mit ein wenig Glück Wolfs- und Bärenspuren im Schnee entdecken.
Gemeinsam möchten wir, insofern die Bedingungen es zulassen, den höchsten Berg des Majella Nationalparks, den Monte Amaro (2793 hm) erklimmen und durch die berühmte Amaro Rinne abfahren. Dass wir dann abends das ausgezeichnete italienische Essen und die passenden Weine der Region
genießen, versteht sich von selbst.
Die Skitouren im Majella fordert eine gute Grundkondition und eine
sichere Spitzkehrentechnik. Wer den anspruchsvollen Aufstieg zum Gipfel mit Steigeisen meistern kann,
wird mit einer großartigen Abfahrt belohnt

Yes, ski touring at the gates of Rome is a beautiful thing.
With Maiella park, a grand ski touring area has opened in Abruzzo in the middle of Apennine. Abruzzo is still among the less frequented ski touring destinations.
Here, one can find a balanced mix of ski slopes, the likes of which are rarely found in the Alps. Monte Rapina features an expansive, breathtaking view far across the Italian countryside all the way out to Albania’s coastal mountains across the Adriatic. With a little luck, you can possibly also find wolf or bear tracks in the snow in the wild Maiella National Park.
Together, as long as conditions allow, we would like to climb the highest peak in the Maiella National Park
(Monte Amaro, 2,793 meters / 9,163 feet), then descend through the renown Amaro couloir. And it’s a given that we will enjoy the splendid Italian food and the appropriate wine of the region.
Ski touring in Maiella demands solid base conditioning and a confident kick-turn technique. The challenging
climb to the summit with climbing passages that require crampons will be rewarded with a stupendous
descent.
